Wyatt Thompson

Hanging around in the rec room, Wyatt had finished more homework than he'd wanted to see in his entire life. That Professor X can really dish out the algebra. Some days, Wyatt almost wishes he stayed in California since the work was a lot easier. He was on the football team since sometimes he managed to get a pass. Too bad this place didn't have a team.  Oh well. He sat on the rec room couch watching the collage football games on ESPN.

Deianira Athanasios

"yiah.." It sounded like a mix of bleh and yuck. I don't make sounds like those often, but I came in here to maybe catch some cartoons or something to lift my spirits. I've looked better, both knees look like they've been run through a grinder, and my cheek has stitched up gash lines that were healing well, but still, it was a reminder. I even have remnants of a black eye. "And I wanted to watch the Fairly Odd Parents.." But my voice isn't whiney, at least, not as whiney as I'd like it to be, mostly because when I sit on the couch and look at him, I realize he's..very..very cute. I blush some and tug at my shorts, and gauzy top.

"Uh...I mean. Hi."

Wyatt Thompson

When she comes over, she might notice he looks a little bored. Wyatt looks at her and blinks. "Whoa. Like....what happened to you?" Not a very subtle guy, she'd see as he stared at her cheek scars.

Deianira Athanasios

I put my head down, glance off to the left away from him, and I put my hand to my cheek. Well that's how that feels, I say to myself. I've been a little ...untactful in my days. It' kind of ...stings.

"Um. Went somewhere I shouldn't have, when I shouldn't of..and then...I got beat up."

I sigh lightly, another glance of dark eyes moves to him as I rake a hand through my stick straight hair.

"I've seen you 'round. So I know you're not new, but doesn't mean I know your name..."

Wyatt Thompson

"Oh. Yeah. I got like, a forgettable face." He extends a hand. "I'm Wyatt. Been here for a little while." His grip would be firm but not crushing. "So like, who beat you up?" Dei's first impression of him would be surfer. The guy sounded like he came straight out of a Bill & Ted movie.

Deianira Athanasios

And the first thing that comes to mind is 'be excellent to each other', but I keep that back. When I take his hand, mine is covered in a thin layer of ice, it's to protect myself, of course.

"Deianira...call me Dei." Which sounds like 'day'. "It's easier." I take my hand away and the ice melts off, I wipe my hand on my shirt.

"Sabretooth." No. Really.

Wyatt Thompson

As he touches the ice, his eyes narrow in slight confusion. "Didn't think my grip was that hard."

It takes a moment for her answer to register. "No way. You faced down Sabertooth? No way. I heard they guy's like, almost as tough as Mr. Logan."

Deianira Athanasios

"It isn't..my hand is just cooler than yours.." I pause, I feel I'll need it. "...literally. If you're feeling warm enough..you could burn me." I sigh though, as I fold my hands into my lap, and I glance at the television.

"Yeah, as tough as. Thank god Kurt was looking for me." I sigh some, but I glance up, there's a bit of pride glittering in my dark eyes. "Made him panic a little..Sabretooth, I mean. He doesn't like it when he can't breathe." But the pride in my eyes melts away.

"It sucked though."

Wyatt Thompson

"Whoa. Cool. So you, like, gonna be an X-Man or something?" He tilts his head in curiosity. He'd never known anyone there to take on Brotherhood members besides X-men and soon-to-be-X-men.

Deianira Athanasios

 "I hope so."

Next year is my senior year. I hope to graduate with ..at least...mediocre grades. I smile at the thought though. Me, an X-Man. I chuckle a bit.

"I was just a dumb kid sneaking out at the wrong time and winding up in the wrong place."

Wyatt Thompson

"Well this is only my second year here. I keep failing math classes. Xavier is so totally biased towards the smart people." He seems to huff and cross his arms.

Deianira Athanasios

"I know!" I'm not stupid, but I'm not brilliant either, and math is hard for me too. I laugh lightly. "I suck at the math...and the history...and a little at the German, but Kurt's a good teacher."

I lift my brows a bit, and I glance outside to the rain, then back at him. At least rain means it'll be cooler out tomorrow.

"So..what's your..uh..thing?"

Wyatt Thompson

His eyebrows lift. "My...thing?"

Deianira Athanasios

"You know..you're uh. Gift power thing.." I lift my hand and a ball of ice begins to form in it, and I offer it to him, it's in the shape of a perfect football. I grin brightly.

"What do you do?"

Wyatt Thompson

"Ohh. That thing. Well, it's nothing much." He waves a hand as the water from their handshake separates itself from her dress in the form or small water drops. Where they came from would be completely dry. The drops would float around one another a bit before just floating into the ice football and freeze. He takes it and tosses it on the air a bit. "Nice."

Marshall Kohler

He quietly steps into the room, his black boots pressing lightly on the hardwood floor boards as he sort of soaks up the area. He had just arrived in a very unfamiliar territory and needless to say it was..a bit lively. His right hand searches his front pocket for something as he runs a hand through his brown hair and looks about, quietly surveying the room.

"This is..nice." He says, just sort of expecting the place, biting his lip. His voice a whisper as he takes another step, his boot making a loud squeak as he awkwardly stops in place, as if he's afraid of someone hearing him. Needless to say, he is either really blending due to his set of black jeans, black boots, and white t-shirt or is as clear as daylight due to the amount of attention he's drawing to himself from merely pointing out his boot squeaking.

Deianira Athanasios

I grin at his tossing the football. He's nice. I like him already.

"We'd be wicked in a fight together, you'd make water, I'd freeze it ..and bam, and..stuff." I chuckle at the way my sentence sort of rambles to its end, before I note another person entering the room. He looks new. Unlike Wyatt, whom I've seen around, I haven't seen this guy around, so I wave a bit to Marshall. I look like I've seen better days with stitch fixed scrapes on my right cheek, a black eye, and knees that look like healing raw hamburger.

"Hey, new guy!" Such...tact.

Wyatt Thompson

"Chyea. The professor put me in a class with that Storm chick because he said if I like, tried hard enough, I could totally make like, a huge tidal wave and flood the city or something."

Wyatt tosses and catches the football a few times before looking back at Marshall. "Sup new guy?" Just as tactful.

Marshall Kohler

Marshall was definitely thrown off by the sudden attention he had just garnered. He gulped softly. He scratched what bit of facial hair he had on his chin and nodded.

"Uh..hey." He said, quietly, as his eyes darted around the room as if he was in danger but his body conveyed just quiet. His right hand gripping closely to the item in his pocket, his body relaxed softly and slowly walked forward, eyeing a seat next to the tactful mutant girl wit the skinned knee.

"..."

Deianira Athanasios

I watch the new guy, Marshall, and I scoot down the couch, closer to Wyatt, leaving the end open for him. I pat the seat lightly. It'll be cool, literally, where I sat. The aura around me, now both boys would feel it, it's about fifty degrees nearest to me, it warms the further one gets from me. I offer a smile.

"You can sit...s'fine. This is Wyatt, he does the water thing...I'm Dei, I do the Ice thing." Dei sounds like 'Day' which might be pretty, I never really thought of it before.

Wyatt Thompson

Wyatt tosses him the ice football. "Sup dude? Just about to watch Spongebob." He grabs the remote and changes to Nickelodeon. Thank god they had this channel or he might have had to leave. Just in time too; show's just starting.

Marshall Kohler

Marshall nods, smiling just a bit as he takes a seat next to Dei, feeling the immediate climate change. Marshall grins softly, feeling the cold on his cheeks, his body acting quite comfortably to the climate change. He looks down the line and nods.

"Hi..I'm Marshall." Of course, the next moment he knows there is an icy projectile being lobbed his way and he instinctively throws his hands up to avoid being hit in the face, leading only to an ice foot ball in his lap. Marshall eyes it strangely and tries to lift it up and toss it back. Needless to say, it hits the floor, a chunk going off.

"Uhh..not much." Marshall says softly as he nervously grabs the ice foot ball and just hands it back to Wyatt.

"So..this is a school?" He asks nervously, his right hand going into his front pocket and toying idly with some trinket.

Deianira Athanasios

 "Most of the time."

I grin, and I lean down to pluck up the ball, I smooth over the chunk missing and soon it's whole again. I hand it back to Wyatt, and I'm smiling broadly when he mentions Spongebob. Does he get me, or what?

"We're just on summer break, and stuff. Which sucks. I hate summer. And heat.." I hold out my arm, I'm certainly pale. "And from the looks of it...sun."

Marshall Kohler

Marshall nods, smiling just a bit as he takes a seat next to Dei, feeling the immediate climate change. Marshall grins softly, feeling the cold on his cheeks, his body acting quite comfortably to the climate change. He looks down the line and nods.

"Hi..I'm Marshall." Wyatt Thompson

He tries to suppress a laugh as Marshal tries to catch the ball, but fails. "Nice catch, dude." Now, he's laughing more at SpongeBob and Patrick's crazy antics. He starts tossing the football up and catching it again, scooting a little closer to Dei, feeling the cooling air around her. Feels pretty good.

Marshall Kohler

Marshall just sort of nods to Wyatt as the more jovial man is amused by the cartoon. Marshall stares at it intently, studying this show he had never laid eyes upon.

"Heh..so I arrived just in time to not learn anything. That's fun." He said, eyeing briefly her arms and then the television.

"The sun's overrated anyway..in terms of lighting. I mean.."He stopped himself for a moment, stunned by his sudden speaking. "..I mean to say is that it's so insignificant in terms of the galaxy. Sure..it's our source of light..yeah..I'll stop."

He sort of drops off in tone, sinking into the couch a bit. His mind beats himself up slightly for opening his mouth. He then mutters.

"You call this starfish a cartoon? Where's Bugs Bunny?"

Deianira Athanasios

"Bugs, he's funny to, just not on right now. Wish he were. But cartoon network has on Ren and Stimpy, which..ew. And the WB has on reruns of Dawson's Creek or some crap like that." I'm unimpressed with either channel, but you can count on Nickelodeon to be entertaining.

"There's some summer classes, I'm taking German this summer, which is fun. Kurt teaches it..er..I mean..Nightcrawer, might know him better by that if you're new."

I glance toward Wyatt, I feel him get closer, and I can't help but blush, blush and look down.

"I know what you mean." I glance up, a reassuring grin toward Marshall. "The sun's great, just does murder to my skin.."

I offer my hand to him to shake, if he takes it, it'll be covered in a thin layer of ice. "Welcome to mutant high." I give him a wink. I think it was Bobby that said that to me.

Wyatt Thompson

Wyatt's not paying much attention to them now that he's watching cartoons but he does look over at Marshall when Dei says welcome. "Now you gotta like, say that to every new student you see."

Marshall Kohler

He nods and then just sort says to himself. "Nightcrawler?"

Her reassuring grin is met with a simple nod from Marshall as he reaches his hand out and feels her icy but lovely grip. The shock of sends a chill down his spine. The nearby lamp lights for a moment seem to glower a big brighter before dimming again as he nods, looking curiously as the wink. He releases her hand and looks to Wyatt.

"Oh great..I'm here for three hours and I already am burdened." He says with slight sarcasm.

Deianira Athanasios

"My deed is done. I don't have to welcome any more students." I grin widely before letting my hand reach up and I snag the ball away from Wyatt during the peak of one of his throws. I touch my hand to it and it simply sticks. I resolidify it, make it so it isn't melty, and then let him retake it.

Odd, I feel very comfortable smack dab between two cute boys. I glance to the lamp then to Marshall. "What's your thing?" I have to word that differently. "Er..I mean..gift. yeah..gift."

Marshall Kohler

He nods softly, his heart beating a little faster. He wasn't sure if this was a reaction to the new feeling of cold or the attractive girl to his left. He coughed, lost in the moment.

"Oh..I've never heard it referred to as umm..a gift. Well..the lighting. I can alter the brightness of a light within about, six yards of me. Dimmer, brighter..hence the bit of flashing." Marshall states, in low tones as before. His hand pulls out the trinket in his right pocket which is revealed to be a silver cross necklace.

"And the other...my sin.."He stopped himself short, restating. "My gift is the shadows." He said, looking to Wyatt as the bigger man's shadow slowly morphed into that of the giant, oversized, cartoon starfish as Wyatt walked away.

Marshall sighed a bit, gripping his cross as if he let go, he just may fall of the Earth.

Deianira Athanasios

I watch him for a moment, he reminds me of Kurt just there, with the cross and speaking of sin. I frown a bit, as Wyatt gets up and goes away, the shadow changing isn't lost on me, but I can't split my attention too much. I tilt my head to the side.

"You remind me of him..er..Kurt..um..Nightcrawler.." I blush faintly, and I look down to my feet, letting them run over each other, rubbing my right foot with my left and visa-versa.

"If people are too warm, their touch can burn me." I frown, watching my feet. Odd how I opened up that sad little tid-bit of knowledge. "Can't go outside in the heat either. I get heat sickness..really fast."

Marshall Kohler

Marshall nods softly as he puts his cross away, Wyatt's shadow returning to normal. He wipes some sweat off his forehead and gulps, looking to Dei with keen interest.

"I..don't know a Nightcrawler..so I can't help you there. Thanks, I guess." He says and nods, just listening to the sadness in her tone as he subconsciously scoots just a tad closer.

"As I said..the suns overrated." He smiled, awkwardly and looked ahead. His hand reached for the nearby Television remote as he switched channels, landing on a random "Music only" channel.

"So...how did you get here Dei?"

Deianira Athanasios

"..'bout a year." I wasn't paying attention to the cartoon, but if I was..I'd have been a bit pouty and whiny about it.

"Kurt? He's awesome. Nightcrawler, he's a teleporter, he's my favorite here." Teacher, or person? Hard to tell. Probably both. He is though, he is my favorite here. Him saving my life only solidified that fact.

"Yeah, well I live without it..." He might also notice that the only breath I take in is to speak with, but other than that...I'm not breathing. That's why I wear so little, the top is covering, but is still a tank top and is a big gauzy, with a solid shorter tank underneath it. I breathe through my skin. It can often freak people out who don't know me.

Marshall Kohler

Marshall nodded calmly. He made note of the fact that her respiration was a bit different but he remained, calm at ease. The part of him, the part that still remained in the Ozarks was telling him to run for his life. He had grown to know better now.

"Uhh, Kurt..cool. But I mean..how did you get here?" He asked, curiously. Subconsciously, she might notice the fact that the lights had dimmed..atlest in a 20 ft radius of Young Marshall.

Deianira Athanasios

I smile, lightly, and I glance to the lights. "My step father is a genius in the field of mutant, non-mutant relations. A therapist. He knew Professor Xavier, and when I got sick, it was the Professor that made my parents realize that I was a mutant. I'm from Arizona...one of the hottest states in the union. I started getting heat sickness for no reason...until the reason became me being a mutant."

I shrug and sigh.

"You?"

Marshall Kohler

He looks into Dei's eyes and notes where they're glancing and sees what he's doing and blushes a bit. He listens intently, hearing how pleasant her story is. He takes a deep breath, looking around to note the rather absence of people and begins.

"I'm from the Ozarks..a farming family. Apparently I had begun manifesting powers at the age of seven or something but nothing my community noticed. The technology was rather low tech so they mistook most of the extra umph in lighting as their own. Two years ago I manipulated some shadows in church..unknowingly. My mom and dad had me re-baptized, had me undergo an exorcism and other items to rid me of this..this curse. This mar on myself."

He sighs and gulps, continuing. "I left with what little clothing I had and hitch hiked east. I go to Chicago where I settled down, went to a few inner city schools. A Miss Monroe, found me and yeah..here I am."

Deianira Athanasios

I smile to him as I gaze to his eyes, and I pat his arm, with the buffer of ice on my palm.

"It's not a curse, it's your gift. You're not evil...you're just..special. Mine started when I was ten...they just thought I was sickly."

I chuckle then as I rise up to my feet, and I straighten my top a bit.

"It was nice to meet you, Marshall. I'll see you around, I have a Danger Room session as punishment for leaving school grounds the other night."

I make a face.

"Sabretooth..is not...cuddly."

I touch the scratch/wounds on my cheek, and shake my head.

"Believe me. It's safer in here."

I then turn to leave.

Marshall Kohler

I nod quietly. Miss Monroe had similar words. But when one is cast forth from the white sheep in the eyes of god, you can't just shrug it off as gift. Needless to say, Dei was a cute, it not interesting call.

"Nice to meet you too..Danger room?" He asked aloud before she walked off, his form sinking into the couch further.
