Reina McClaine-Hawthorne Reina had nights that she itched for excitement, and nights that she itched for some good old fashioned fun, and other nights where she itched for something...warmer, but after Saturday night that itch had been finally scratched by Logan.
Tonight she was out on the town, going from place to place, bar-hopping is what these people called it now. In her day bar-hopping had just been considered rabble rousing or at least just a good time. There had been no real word for it, but it happened, every night in the old New York. How this city has changed since then.
Dressed in a strapless top and a pair of jeans, she left her car on the street outside a lesser busy bar, this one wasn't the type she usually went for, but she was at least hoping to run into Logan tonight. If he wasn't here, oh well, maybe she could get a bit of money out of the people there to play cards.
Sabretooth™ Bars are usually my sorta gig, if they're dive bars or biker clubs. They're my kinda people. I get into fights often. I always come out on top. And playing cards is fun, if only to take peoples money.
I'm pulling a sip off my beer bottle. Nice bottle of Moosehead. And I sniff a bit.
Besides the tobacco smoke, the alcohol, and who knows what else. I smell someone that immediately gets my blood boiling.
Logan's my antithesis... sorta got a mad-on for him ever since he replaced me with Stryker's organization. Maybe ran into him before... memory ain't that good so I can't be sure. But the moment I laid eyes on him when I was sent to kidnap Rogue... the gauntlets were thrown. We were enemies.
So naturally when I smell Logan's scent, I'm putting my cards down, finishing my beer and following the scent, throwing my shoulder into anyone in my path. Eventually approaching Reina from behind.
I kneel down, and she'll hear the sniffing sound going up and down her neck. Yep, scent's unmistakable.
"My my, somebody's been busy. Heh heh heh." I say with a low growl. Sadistic.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne The sniffing, it sends shivers down her spine and it's really making her uncomfortable. She hasn't known Logan for ...well okay so she's known him for a month or so, and he's helped her with things like digging out bullets when they've healed into her. But he didn't talk about things like Sabretooth. The woman slowly turned around and brushed some of her hair aside, her emerald gaze going up into the face of her would be sniffer, and she lifted both brows.
Logan didn't talk of him, but she knew who he was, Reina kept herself up to date with the things that went bump in the night, and sometimes, she bumped back.
"Aye, I usually am very busy," Reina said with a slight annoyance in her voice that was thick with a Scottish accent. She put her hands to her hips and took a generous step back.
"An' jes' why'd ye pick me ta come sniffin' after?" There was a subtle accusation in her eyes, as if she were calling him an animal, a beast, with only just her brilliant eyes.
Sabretooth™ "Mm. Ain't it obvious, darlin'?" I grin at her evilly. I'm getting her scent. It's memorized now.
"Don't ya know who I am? Has he not mentioned me before?" I growl softly, playfully.
Too bad, really. I expected to be one of his best stories to tell.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne "He?"
Her gaze turned confused, a bit questioning as she crossed her arms over her chest. She smirked lightly to herself as she glanced to the doorway, then to the bartender, and then back to him. She had to have an escape plan, she knew he was dangerous without needing to hear it from Logan.
"I'm afraid I don' know who ye're talkin' abou', ye'll 'aveta be more specific, I know a few..he's.." of course this use of the word 'know' was in no way similar to the way she 'knew' Logan. She hadn't any other's scent on her. She wasn't the type of woman to sleep around, at any rate.
Sabretooth™ I'll close in on her. If Logan had the bright idea to sleep with her, he'd need the bright idea to tell her about me. I don't threaten her though... no, not yet. We aren't even having fun yet.
"Y'know... he. Th' sawed-off runt. Th' Wolverine. Y'know... Logan." I lean in close and snap at her a bit.
"Y'know, my son." How's that for specific?
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne Reina, over the years, had finely tuned the way she reacted to things. She was old, she might even be older than the man in front of her, but..that might not be either. She had a control over how her face worked even if her mind was doing back flips behind it. Son? How can that be, she thought to herself, yet her expression was as placid, if not warm as it had been moments ago.
"Ah, aye, I didnae expec'ta meet tha in-laws already." She lifted both of her brows and she cleared her throat lightly before taking one step back.
Reina was in no way defenseless or helpless, but against someone as big and strong as he was, she might have some difficulties, even if she could heal them afterwards.
"No, Logan 'asn't mentioned ye, sorry. Ye mus'nae be tha' important to 'im."
Sabretooth™ "Well, ya oughta..." I sniff a bit more. I take in more than just his scent. I take in her chemicals that make up her body.
I crack my neck side to side. The metal popping sound. It's sickening, but very audible.
"No? That's too bad..." Didn't think I would be that important to him. Considering who I am.
"But ya better learn t' love th' family, sweetheart..." I sniff her once more.
"Cuz I'd love t' meet my grandchild." My lip curls into a sinister smirk. And I stare right at her.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne Her stomach lurched, she wanted to vomit but she kept her features smooth and placid. Her jaw worked itself, and she crossed her arms over her chest. The fact of the matter is, she was sure she could still have children, but...she wouldn't want to, have to watch another child of hers age and die. It was heartbreaking.
"I keep who I love and donnae love to meself, if ye don' mind, and I don' think ye'd be one of 'em," another subtle step back from him came, and she slipped her hands behind her, into her back pockets.
"Now, ef ye don' mind, I 'ave other...things ta deal wit' tanight." She didn't really, but she felt as if she wanted to be hundreds of miles away from this man before her.
Sabretooth™ I follow her, surely enough. And I smile, licking my lips at her. Like an animal who just found a piece of meat in the wilderness.
I want to know just how far I can drive Logan into depression by killing his bitch. He'd come after me, sure. But he wouldn't know what I've told her tonight. Whether I'm telling the truth... or if this is just one of those lies I'm known to spout.
Then I tilt my head back and laugh a bit.
"Yer a funny one, girlie..." I growl at her.
"An' what kinda grand-daddy would I be if I killed my son's lady friend, huh?" I clasp my hands together and leave it at that.
I growl low at her. More animal than man. More feral than Logan could ever hope to be.
"You have fun now, y'hear?" And that's that. I'm not going to kill her. Not yet at least. She made the mistake of letting me get her scent. I can kill her later. When Logan's attached to her the most.
That would be a very dark victory.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne Reina narrowed her eyes, she didn't like threats, and she didn't take them well. She took a step forward into him and she nearly growled, for as much as a demure little Scottish flower could growl. "I don' take kindly ta threats, no matter who ye are, an' I'm a bit of a 'and full, ye may not be able ta 'andle me as wull as ye might think."
Reina can be stubborn sometimes, and this was certainly one of those times. She was getting angry, and he was hitting a few too many of her sore spots. Too many indeed.
"...'ow would ye like ta take this outside, mm?"
Sabretooth™ "Girlie, I'm th' most dangerous man near you right now. I don't need t' brag t' ya about all th' powerful super-creeps I've gutted over th' years." Logan could beat me every now and again in a straight fight. But he couldn't kill me. And I find the easiest way to hurt Logan isn't with some adamantium claws into his gut. It's through the people he cares about.
I'll smile at her evilly.
"Make it a point not t' fight pregnant women, doll." Licking my canines.
"Now y'all tell Logan I send his congratulations on his bouncin' baby girl or boy." I snarl at her softly.
"... 'course if ya wanna fight me yerself... I ain't gonna back down from a challenge. 'specially from a Scottish tramp like yerself." I grin.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne "Pregnant? I am mos' certainly no' pregnant," but that brought a sick feeling of doubt swirling in her head and heart. That was the one thing that could make her eyes go wide as they just did, and her mouth drop open as it had just done.
It'snae possible. I can' be, she thought to herself, her heart running like a scurrying rabbit fleeing from its predator.
She took a few steps back, looking a bit bewildered, a bit stunned. And she shook her head quietly.
"Ye'll be 'earin' from me soon, ye rabid bear." Reina wanted to vomit, wanted to scream. She had to find out for sure, however, he was animalistic, he could smell things. But is it something he'd lie about?
Sabretooth™ I just tap my nose at her. Logan's like me. He has the nose to sniff out changes in body chemistry. Like me, he could tell when a woman's body chemistry changes for pregnancy.
I lean back. I can hear her heart race. I can smell more changes in her now. Denial. Maybe guilt. Mm. I've really put some fear into her now.
Maybe more fear than what I'd give her just by raping and killing her.
"An' when ya come back, doll... I'll be waitin'. An' trust me when I say, you'll be dead." Despite any powers she has, I'll kill her. I'll kill her to get at Logan. Because I'm that rare breed of sick bastard.
Reina McClaine-Hawthorne Reina's head was spinning as she went to the bar's door and exited. She went to her car and leaned against it for a few moments. This couldn't be happening. When she found out she was pregnant with Drake all those years ago, it was happy news to be shared with Geoffrey, but this...
Logan...they hadn't been together long, and were they even really together? He had a way about him, she couldn't deny, but was that all animal magnetism, was there anything solid in it?
She opened her car door and she sat down, only to double over and heave in vomiting onto the pavement beside the car. She sat back and wiped her mouth, then closed the door only to sit there with her eyes closed.
"Damn et."
Sabretooth™ I watch her from the window and turn my back to her, pulling another Cuban from my jacket pocket and biting off the end.
Tonight was a very good night.
