Deianira Athanasios Deianira went to the mall earlier today, chaperoned and all, in order to pick something up for her brother and herself. She saw it on a late night infomercial, personal air conditioners, you wear them on the back of your neck and they're supposed to keep you cool. So that's what she was trying out, she thought she'd try it before she got Alex's hopes up.
So far it was keeping her comfy, but it was a much much cooler day out today, not even 80 out. So she was sitting on the edge of the fountain she had a water fight in not too long ago, and she was sketching something in a notebook, or more like, doodling. Dei had something of an artistic streak, but it fell toward cartoons rather than realistic images.
Chaz MacIntyre Floating down silently behind Deianira, he hovers just behind her and grins. So this is a mean way to sneak up on someone but hell with it be fun to she her reaction.
"Heya Sexy"
He spokes suddenly and just laugh enough to hopefully scare the hell out of her. Of course, in chance she reacts badly, he zips back about ten feet to be on the safe side.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira was just applying pen to paper when he spoke, and she accidentally drew a hard line straight up and she didn't yelp, for she hadn't taken in air to yelp, but she did jump up to her feet and whirl around
She finally took a breath, but only to speak with, "Geeze, Chaz, you scared me to death."
Deianira smirked at him and shook her head a bit before tucking her hair behind her ear, "you'd give a girl a heart attack, you know that?"
Chaz MacIntyre "Heart attack... broken heart... a little of this and a little of that..."
He grins and laughs , landing lightly on the other side of the fountain, then walking around to her side.
"Are you sure you are okay to be out here?"
His voice carries a note of friendly concern, as he looks her over for signs of heat flush.
Deianira Athanasios "I'm testing something I bought today, I saw it on tv, it looked cheap, but I saw a more sturdy model at the Sharper Image." She moved her hair a bit, not that it was completely covering the small device resting on the back of her neck, that looped over her shoulders a bit. It was pumping out cool onto her skin. And her aura of cool air was as strong as ever.
"It seems to be working okay. But it is cooler today anyway." She grinned up at him, shielding her eyes for a moment. "Broken heart? Yeah, you're devastating alright, but alas my poor heart will never have you."
She smirked with her teasing tone as she pushed her pen into the rings of her notebook.
Chaz MacIntyre "So whatcha working on?"
Grinning, he playfully pokes her in the side and then smirks. Dressed today in shorts, sandals and an Old Navy t-shirt, he looks the picture of summer. Dei would be able to see his physique which has been honed with demanding farm choices as well as linebacker training in his old school.
Deianira Athanasios Dei was wearing her usual wear for summer, as little as possible while still being appropriate. She tugged lightly at the black little tank top that only came to a few inches above her navel, and she wore another little skirt, this time it was blue, pleated too, and it didn't reach mid-thigh. Bare toes scrunched against the bottoms of her flip-floppy shoes. Deianira worked out too, there was starting to show a bit of muscle definition along her stomach, as well as her upper arms.
"Ah, just doodling." Dei giggled just a bit at the poking, she was quite ticklish, probably to a fault, but most people who aren't used to touch are that way.
"See?" Probably on par with something from Disney, cute little x-men characters. All using their powers, except the one on top that was going to be Storm had a big line through it now thanks to him.
Chaz MacIntyre "You're good... but where's me? I want an heroic pose... maybe carrying a damsel in distress.'
Oddly, he doesn't sound like he joking. There is a note of seriousness and longing in his voice. He really does want to be a hero and help people.
"And where are you snowflake?"
Deianira Athanasios Deianira flipped to the next page and glanced to him, she bit at the tip of her tongue and started to draw him, hovering over the ground in an X-Men uniform, carrying some random blonde woman who was unconscious. She went from biting her tongue to biting her lip, and back. She kept the pad away from him so she could look at him every now and then. She went on to draw her somewhat near, fending off enemies with ice while he saved the damsel in distress.
It took her a few minutes, of which she was silent, before she offered him a look, and then grinned brightly. "I thought you might wanna save the girl before the horde of mutated alien zombies ate her."
She chuckled then and she poked him in the side next.
Chaz MacIntyre "Sweeeet!"
He grins, no, beams and nods vigorously with approvingly. Looking over the sketch in more detail, he founds a bit.
"Do the uniforms really look that... drab? I mean black is cool and all, but it doesn't exactly scream, 'Hero here to save you ma'am'. Do you think we an request something with a bit of color?"
Deianira Athanasios "I dunno," Dei said with a shrug. "You see mine is very little and has accents of blue, there, but I don't know your favorite color, otherwise I would have put more into it." She grinned a bit and tilted her head, "That and I just have this blue pen here."
She chuckled again and glanced back up to him. "Bobby's got his uniform a bit altered, different than most, but I think you'd have to ask. I think I'm kind of a conundrum, I need to be kept cool while still breathing through my skin. I think I'm gonna ask Alex about that." Alex summers, of course.
"I thought you'd say I didn't make you big enough," she winked.
Chaz MacIntyre "Who am I to judge the one with actual talent?"
He smiles warm, and turns the page back so she can.
"You know I bet you could get cash for these sketches. I know I'd pay a few bucks for drawings and many for some uniform concept design. In fact, can I keep this or maybe get you to do a bigger one with colors."
Deianira Athanasios Deianira became a little shy then. Someone was complimenting her, and really meaning it. Her cheeks pinked and she tugged on her hair. "I um, I could work on something, bigger, with colors..." her painfully shy streak coming out blaringly.
"I um, you think so? I dunno, I just do it for fun, but..." still blushing, she crossed her legs and folded her arms over her chest, trying to get as small as possible.
She was silent for a few moments, before glancing up at him, very dark blue eyes, nearly black, connected with his. "So, what's your favorite color?"
Chaz MacIntyre "Me... I like burgundy or deep reds. And why would you think people won't want em. The have not always desire what the haves have. You have talents and people like me without that talent will always want a piece of it."
He goes into his back-pocket, takes out his wallet and offers her five bucks.
'Think of it as a down payment for art supplies."
Deianira Athanasios Dei looked at the money and then up at him, she chewed for a while on her lower lip and just stared at him for a moment. She felt funny taking money from him. "Nah, you're a friend, consider it a favor."
She didn't even reach up to take the money, but she was still blushing a vibrant pink on her cheeks.
"Really, my first fan deserves to keep his money." She was relaxing a bit, but the pink wasn't leaving her cheeks.
Chaz MacIntyre "Okay, considering I can poster size drawing with high detail perceptive background and emotive inspiring pose..."
He grins and winks.
"Oh... btw the way what happened after I spilled out last night?"
Deianira Athanasios "Nothin' much, Meggan left the room too, I think she tried to dull Scott's pain or something, anyway, I think it was getting late anyway, and we all seemed pretty tired." Deianira glanced to him, taking in small details, he might think she was staring, but if he wanted a poster sized drawing with high detail, she needed to take notice of smaller things, like the stubble on his chin.
"So, this poster, you want to be clean shaven, or will this stubble stay?" She touched his chin delicately to emphasize the hairs that oddly she found incredibly sexy all of the sudden.
Chaz MacIntyre He laughs and rubs his own chin, before shrugging.
"Guess I forgot to shave. Either way it's your choice. You're artist so do what works for you, hun."
Okay, he liked with way she touched his chin just now, but it really didn't matter. She liked someone else and he liked Meggan. Still... she was very cute.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira was becoming very keen on the fact that she was 17 and still hadn't been kissed yet. She dropped her hand away from his chin and blushed a bit more.
"I like it, makes you seem very rugged and sexy," she glanced up to him, her eyes warm, and deep. She was blushing again, however. She could have kept that little bit to herself, but what's a bit of honesty between friends?
"I think I'll keep it."
Chaz MacIntyre "Okay but you don't get to keep the poster... Its going up in my room not yours."
He smirks, teasingly and gently pokes her again. There's nothing wrong with harmless flirtation. Unless her guy friend saw... or Meggan saw... or someone else saw misunderstood and told her guy friend and or Meggan.
"So you went shopping, huh? Whatcha buy me?"
Deianira Athanasios Again there came a little giggle, and she squirmed. The more comfortable she became with flirting with even him, the more easily it would come with others. It was helping her out of her shell a little more, and Dei needed all the help she could get with that.
"You know, I almost forgot, but it's in my room." Deianira was a gift giver, if she saw something in a store that reminded her of someone, she'd buy it. For no other reason than to bring someone a bit of delight. She pointed up to the mansion, third floor, a couple windows down, and she chuckled. "I bet I could get it quick if I got a lift."
Chaz MacIntyre "You want me to carry you?"
There's a note of uncertainly in his voice. He's never carried anyone before which flying so he no idea if it will work. In theory he though he could but there were aspects of his flight powers he didn't really understand. Frowning for a moment, he considered it from all angles. No harm in trying.
"Okay, but I want the record to show that if we crash, you were driving.'
He holds out his arm, for her to get into, thinking a forward carry would be a bit better than a piggyback."
Deianira Athanasios "Aw c'mon, you can do it," that and she'd never actually been flying before, in her life, ever, except on a plane, so that was different. She moved and nearly leapt into his arm, grinning widely, even if the touch of it was a bit uncomfortable. This was a tad exciting.
"Okay, where's the steering wheel?" she smirked as she looked do him. This close he'd smell her, or what he might think is perfume at first, but it's not. She smells like clean air after rain, or humid wet air. It's the way she always smells. Fresh and clean. A side effect of her icy powers. "You know, if I'm driving and all."
Chaz MacIntyre "Hang on"
He holds her closer, making sure she is snug and secure. She not really a weigh concern... at least not while on the ground. He's tossed hay bales which felt heavier than her. Still airborne...
Taking a focusing breath, the smell of her somehow reminding him of the farm in Ohio, he concentrates on lifting off.
Dei would feel a light tingling as the flight field enveloped her and they would lightly float up.
Once he sure he can hold them stable in the air, he starts flying in the direction of her bedroom window.
"Do you want me to head start there or would you prefer the scenic route?"
Deianira Athanasios When they lifted off, Dei wrapped her arms around him a little more tightly, and her eyes went wide a bit. This was fantastic. She was looking all around, back over his shoulder, away from him, but down mostly.
"Oh my god, this is awesome. Marry me?" She grinned widely to him and then bit at her lip, trying to decide. Well there was the gift, but this was awful fun.
"I um...the scenic route, if I'm not too heavy," of course Dei weighted hardly anything, but it wasn't as if that were a bad thing really.
Chaz MacIntyre "Scenic it is. Hang on"
He pauses a second or two to let her ready herself then rockets straight up. Just before reaching the lower clouds, he rolls and assumes a more classic superhero carrying the damsel pose. He makes sure not to go too too fast. Maybe only rollercoaster speed.
"You doing okay?"
Deianira Athanasios Deianira was grinning widely. She wasn't just okay, she was having the time of her life. She did yelp a bit when he went up further, but it was just a surprise.
Her hair moved in the wind, probably hitting him with its silkiness. She glanced to him, practically beaming.
"More than okay, this is incredible. And, it's cooler up here..." She looked up, and she reached her hand out, it was obvious she wanted to touch a cloud.
Chaz MacIntyre "One cloud encounter coming up"
Angling up he zips through the nearest cloud.
Oddly, she wouldn't feel hardly any moisture. in fact, the wind on her show be worse but it's not. It's more like a gentle breeze then gusts of turbulence.
Deianira Athanasios "Wow..." her voice came more quietly as her hand skimmed through a cloud. She shivered, but not with cold, obviously, with excitement. This was so unbelievable. Alex would never believe she touched a cloud today.
"Oh..oh wow, Chaz," she was almost whispering, because this experience was just so amazing, she didn't really know how to express it in any other way.
Chaz MacIntyre Okay... time for a bit of a prank.
The tingling of the flight field disappears and they stop to drop like a stone. The wind suddenly is back, gusting sharply, the moisture from the cloud is everywhere. This is for the half a sec they linger in the cloud. Plummeting to the ground, he holds her tightly so she can't freak too badly.
At about five hundred yards the flight field snaps back into place, way stronger and he pulls them out of the dive. He curved them out towards the lake, leveling off about 5 yards above the water and accelerates. While she won't hear it right away, he breached the sound barrier for a few second and then pulls up and quickly yet safely slow, allowing the sound wake to catch up.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira didn't scream, she wasn't much of a screamer to begin with, but she figured he'd try something, she was a prank queen after all. But she was taken unawares.
She turned to bury her face against his neck and there was a little intake of a breath there, but that was as far as her panic went. A little gasp, and a burying of her face.
When he began to fly again, she didn't lift her head yet at first, and she was shaking, just a little. Dei never had a problem with heights, but that would scare anyone, wouldn't it?
Chaz MacIntyre Okay... not quite the reaction he was going for, but... Okay, holding her is one thing but having her bury her face in his neck is something else. He was after all a male, teenage male with all the raging hormones normal for such. Suddenly more than a tad... uncomfortable... he circles back to the mansion and lands by the back door softly, and sets her down quickly.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira was still shaking some, even put down on her feet she was still close. She looked up at him, well as her eyes opened anyway, and she nibbled her lip.
"S-scared me," she said with hair in her face, over her lips and eyes, and she just stood there for a moment still gripping him because she felt that her knees might not work if she let go.
Chaz MacIntyre "Sorry... I mean I meat to give a little fright, but not cause a heart attack or anything."
He's mumbling and his eyes are on anything bet her. His body orientation is somewhat sideway, and his hands are awkwardly trying to casually cover his crotch. Ahh the joy of male hormone response.
Deianira Athanasios She's too, well, out of it at the moment to notice something like that, at least right now she is. Her right hand is curled up in his shirt on the small of his back, her left is curled up in his shirt on his front. And she doesn't seem to be planning on letting go any time soon.
"I uh, I dropped my notebook." It was probably in the lake by now, not that it mattered, she could recreate those little pictures with ease. Not that it was significant, but it's where her mind jumped to.
Chaz MacIntyre "I'm sorry... do you want me to go look for it?"
He trying to back away out of Dei's death grip, but not having much success. He even tries to gently pry her hand loose but can't make must headway.
"Um... Dei... you're safe now. Solid ground and everything... you can let go now."
Deianira Athanasios "Huh?" Deianira blinked a few times and looks up at him, before blushing and uncoiling her hands from his shirt. Her knuckles hurt a little from it. And what do you know, her knees do work, so she doesn't fall on her backside.
"Naw, it's not irreplaceable," She took a step back and that just happened to be where the fountain was, her knees hit it and she sat down, roughly, but didn't fall into the fountain at all.
"I'll stop shaking, you know, eventually."
Chaz MacIntyre "Um... I'm really sorry... I sometimes forgot that not everyone can fly or likes the speeds I do. I promise that if we ever fly again, I'll stay really slow."
He sits down a few paces from her and shifts his torso slightly away from her, till the 'swelling' does down.
Deianira Athanasios Now that she was becoming less shell shocked, she glanced to him. "It wasn't the speed that got me, it was the free fall, that did."
And as she glanced to him, she noticed his position, and bit at her lip.
Oh, he's got a problem, she thought, then her cheeks became nearly beet red. I gave him a problem?!
Deianira swallowed for a moment, her mind trying to grasp onto something that would make sense, before she turned and she pushed him into the fountain.
"So now, we're even."
Chaz MacIntyre "Wha..."
That was all he got out before... sploosh... drown... choke.... He splashes around for a second or two, then sits up, looks shocked.
"Why you little!"
He looks one part mad, two parts amused, and three parted distressed. They are just friends, hormonal reactions and all, that was all he needed to remember.
"Remember me to drop you in the lake, next time we go flying..."
He pushes his mess of wet hair away from his forehead, then flicks the excess water at her.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira took the device off her neck so it wouldn't get wet, just in case, and she stepped into the fountain, only to sit on the edge again. "Then you'd owe me like fifty bucks for that thing..."
She scooped a bit of water out and instead of throwing it on him, she poured it over the back of her neck, and then went for more, before she grinned at him.
"Well, you looked like you needed a cold shower anyway," she teased.
Chaz MacIntyre Smirking, he snorts and climbs out of the fountain.
"Well as flat as you might be, you're still a chick so I have an excuse.'
He quickly jaunts back out of splash range, and grins.
"So this guys of yours... he doesn't mind the lack of curves. He does know you're a chick right?"
Deianira Athanasios Somehow that actually hurt her a little. Deianira glanced down to her own chest and then crossed her arms over it. There was joking and then there was just downright hurtful.
"Sorry I'm not fat...or something." Now she wasn't sure she was gonna do that poster for him, and she wasn't at all sure why she was suddenly angry and hurt. That'd been a low blow, she hadn't insulted him ever.
Dei stepped out of the fountain and grabbed up her neck cooler thing, she put it back on and let out a tiny sigh, but was in no way looking at him.
She started toward the school
"Bite me."
Chaz MacIntyre Uh oh... too far. He winces and runs over to her, hands up in surrender.
"I'm sorry, that was major league stupid. I gotta remember that I can't treat you like one the guys. I mean, we're friends and such, but between we banter and take pot-shots at each other and it doesn't mean shit but.... I'm really sorry'
Okay... now if she was a guy she's just shrug it off and maybe hit or something. But she a girl and Chaz isn't good with girls. Not be a long shot. Especially not good at being friends and just friends if that even really possible.
"You can hit me if you want. I know I deserve it. I won't even try to block or anything."
He closes his eyes and forces his hands down to his side, but he does tense up.
Deianira Athanasios Deianira had to wipe at her cheek, she didn't understand why that hurt so much. She was a tom-boy, she was just coming out of that phase, and now that she was actually trying to be more lady like, it didn't seem to be working.
She looked away and down to the ground, her arms were still tightly over her chest and a tear or two was still trying to come free down her cheek.
"...whatever."
Chaz MacIntyre When the expected blow doesn't come, he knows he's really blown it. He opens one eye and then the other. Aww crap now she's crying! Why the hell do they always have to cry?! What the hell do I do now?!
"Dei... I... I'm an ass. No worse, I'm a pimple on an ass."
He backs away, not knowing how to cope with her tears.
"I'll go find your notebook"
And on that note, he leaps skyward and head towards the lake at high speed.
Deianira Athanasios Then Dei gets a little angrier and less hurt, and a ball of ice forms over her hand, not too slushy, she wanted to hurt him, but not kill him. She flings it after him, aiming at the center of his back.
"Screw the notebook," she didn't shout, but she wasn't going to get over this that easily. Her voice came louder. "Keep it if you find it, your picture's in it.. The only one you'll get!"
She stormed off toward the school's doors. What a jerk, doesn't he know that you can't joke about a girl's chest? That's like an untouchable topic.
Chaz MacIntyre The ice ball hits him in back, but again he doesn't seem to notice as it shatters and sloughs off. Slow for a minute, when he hears her, he turns in the air to look at her, stilling moving in the same direction. When she notices her storm off, he slows more and turns back around into the direction he's moving and descends to the edge of the shore.
Landing, he sits and stares out at the lake, going over the events in his heads to would out what he should have done to prevent all this.
Deianira Athanasios The notebook hadn't landed in the water, but a couple feet from where Chaz came to rest, sitting there with pen in the rings still, flipped to the page she drew of him and of herself.
There's just some jokes some people can't take, and that was Dei's, she was self conscious about her body, especially her chest, and she hated that he flung that in her face.
