Emily grew up in a very strict Catholic family.  Her family's life and her own life became all about the church and God.  She truly believes in God, she has much love for him and her faith.  While her parents are quite wealthy through honest means, Emily doesn't need to work and mostly does charity work for orphanages and churches.

Her uncle breeds and trains dogs for seeing-eye companions.  Emily's deep love of animals brought her to help him.
