Cryokinesis:

Dei has the ability to cool the air around her to make life more comfortable for her.  In a radius of about five feet around her, the air is cooled to a comfortable 50 degrees, which often makes people uncomfortable.  She can make balls of ice about the size of ping pong balls and shoot them, or throw them like projectile weapons (Not as fast as a bullet, around 150mph).  She can create a coating of ice on her skin as armor, but only up to one inch thick, beyond that it is too difficult to sustain, especially in dry or hot climates.  She can also sculpt ice by using her fingers.  Making a block of ice larger than 5 square feet winds her.

Due to her weakness of heat, Deianira's body has adapted its way of taking in oxygen so she need not breathe in air that is too warm and harm her lungs.  She doesn't need to breathe like most, but can draw oxygen through her skin.  That means if she is in water (or any other liquid that contains oxygen), she can still gain her oxygen and therefore cannot drown in simple water (Or any other oxygen rich liquid).  Wrapping her body in an air-tight substance would suffocate her.

Weaknesses:

Heat and fire do more damage to her than   they would anyone else, double damage, to be exact.  The touch of a human hand can be quite uncomfortable.  Her body temperature is far below the normal at around 80 degrees.  She can get heat sickness very swiftly if she becomes unconscious and cannot keep her cooling field up.  She also cannot wear a lot of clothing due to her "breathing".  She prefers airy and light clothing, gauzy things, like sundresses and such, and open toed shoes, like sandals.  She rarely wears socks, or even full length pants.  She never wears a coat in winter, either.

History:

Deianira was born in Phoenix, AZ.  Her child hood was normal for these times, which meant she had a pretty split up home and family.  She was the product of her mother's first marriage to a man who drank heavily and abused both Dei and her mother.  For a time she was taken into the care of social services.  She developed her introverted attention deficit ways during this time, as times were hard.  Her mother went into rehab and came out a changed woman married to one of the doctors, who helped her there, who was, like her father, Greek. 

At the time of their marriage, Deianira was seven.  She was fully immersed into the Greek culture, as her new step-father came from Greece.  In the new family, Dei had a hard time adapting to a loving father who wouldn't harm her; she got into trouble whenever she could.  Lied, stole, and did poorly in school.  The fact that she had twin half/step-brothers newly into her life didn't help things.  She felt forgotten and unloved, which was completely untrue.  Despite having a lot of things, Dei chose to hang onto her old things, and was often difficult to buy presents for, half of the time she rejected them.     

At the age of 15, her mother announced she was pregnant, when they found it was going to be a little girl, Dei's symptoms began.  She began to get ill nearly every day, showing signs of heat-sickness even when it wasn't too hot.  It wasn’t until her step-father realized what she was that the doctors stopped trying to treat her.  When she turned 16 she discovered she had more of a mutation than simply being cold, and began to play with her new-found powers.  Coming from a very dry state made this very difficult. 

Her step-father knew of Xavier's School for the Gifted due to his work with psychology of mutants and mutant - non-mutant relations.  He suggested that she go to New York and find out about the school and what they could help her with.  Dei is a new student this year; she's 17 years old and just as rebellious as ever.  Both her mother and step-father hope she can get a more level head and learn more about herself there.

Since arriving at Xavier's, she's been having a hard time adjusting to life.  She likes to stay outside in the snow, a lot.  She likes to keep herself from other students.  There have been only two people that have really gotten to mean anything much to Dei.  Those two people are Kurt Wagner and Everett Thomas.  She considers both friends, though for Kurt it's more of a school-girl crush and admiration to her.  She's since promised Everett and herself that she'd try to make friends more actively, though she remains largely introverted and shies away from people.  She has also promised herself and Kurt that she'd try harder and work at school better.  So far she's received her first A on a quiz in Biology and it was celebrated with Kurt over ice cream in the school's kitchen.

Personality:       

Deianira is not shy, but wary of people.  She doesn't like to get close because close means touching, and touching means pain.  She is quiet, most times, and prefers to   study and be alone.  She's not an exceptional student because she becomes easily distracted, and borders on ADHD.  When she speaks it may seem erratic at times, and somewhat goofy.
