Boo Marathon!
Yay House, Boo Marathon!
Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Okay, so it's been a while, but yeah, I don't have a lot of time these days. WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! ~queue celebration music~ It's a cute little house in Maplewood, MN, yes, I live in Minnesota, but that doesn't mean I won't forget how to drive! :P. I keed, I keed.

Not so cool things: Marathon sucks. This is me stating that I will never go to another Marathon owned gas station ever ever again!

Super America fires employee for defending coworker in robbery.Outside Link (Outside link, opens in new window)

I know there is a policy, but that is just down right low, I think. He thought his fellow worker was in danger and getting hurt! No more Super America or Marathon for me! Ever again! BOOOOO.

Stuper America and Maralimp is more like it.

Oh, and this happend at the Stuper America two BLOCKS from where I work! Roseville, MN! Yikes.

For those who don't know, Marathon owns Marathon, Pilot, Speedway, and Super America gas stations.

Holiday Season is a time for so much sentimental yadda yadda yadda...
Monday, December 31, 2007

Don't take the "yadda" crap as me liking Seinfeld or me being cynical about Christmas. I love this time of year. I was being funny, or trying to be. I really do love this time of year. I visited my parents this time. Went down, they got a whole lot of snow the day after we arrived, which we foolishly drove around in. The night before Christmas Eve, all the snow that fell came off of my Parent's barns roof and onto their shed's roof and then shed collapsed. We usually stay there, and most of the time would have parked in that very shed. If we had, our car probably would have been totaled. I am thanking my guardian angel for that one.

My nephew also got engaged on Christmas Eve. That is so awesome. What I am most thankful for that happened, however, is the simple act of playing cards with my sisters and brother-in-laws. My husband and I got to play Euchre with Sue, Tammy, Greg, and Greg, and it was so much fun. I haven't gotten to play cards with them in forever, and I missed it. I was grateful for that.

Anyway, not much else to say.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snow, snow, and more snow
Friday November, 23, 2007

Holidays are wonderful, especially when you have family to spend them with. I went up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for Thanksgiving, and it was great. My husand's family has a tradition of serving a meat stuffing with their turkey that reminds me a little of corn beef hash with a lot of onions in it, so I was a tiny bit disappointed to not have the bread stuffing I was so looking forward to. Oh well. It could be that I am just picky. Speaking of picky; this is the first year that I have tried Green Bean Casserole. I know, I know...hold your gasps in. I am picky, so I don't usually eat those sorts of things. I tried a little, and it was good.

I love being up here, I am going to hate to leave, but I know I will. It's a beautiful place, but the ugly thing about it is there are no jobs up here.

Today we were with my in-law's, and after breakfast, my father-in-law decided to take us for a windy-road drive. It was pretty, around this man-made lake, "Deer Lake". It would have been more enjoyable to keep going, but my bladder would have nothing of it. We ended up going to hang aroun Ronalyn's for a while and then going back to Marquette, and the to Josh's. We ended the night by going to Big Boys for dessert.

I did, however, manage to get a pair of Candies!! I think I am addicted to shoes. Hehe. Anyway, that is all.

On the job front, all is well. I recently purchased, but did not yet start Rosetta Stone. I hope it works for me so that I an learn French easily.

More to come soon...

No picture, but a much needed update!
Monday, November 05, 2007

Wow, when I say I don't like to update much, I guess I'm not kidding.  Seriously.

I have a lot to say though, but not a lot of time to say it in, because I told my new boss that I would update my blog.  Yes, dear faithful readers, I said new boss.  I have a new job.  No longer am I forced to grind away at Wal-Mart, or as I came to lovingly call it, "Hell-Mart".  I work at a place called Digital Technology International.  My title is "Windows Technical Support Analyst".  I just have to say that I love it!  It's a great place to work, sure, I have to drive to Roseville, MN, but it's still a great place to work.  Both Jason and I have good jobs, and I'm finally happy.

On Halloween we dressed up at the office, it was amusing, to say the least, among the costumes were California Raisins, Wonder Woman, The Queen of Hearts, A Goth Rocker Chick (me, hehe), and so on and so forth.

I'll update more when I have more time, but I just did so much this weekend that I forgot to update this, and well, I promised I would.

More later!

If you haven't seen Serenity, then...well that's just sad for you.
Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Wow.  I guess I like to update on Wednesday.

Both surgeries went perfectly, I'm recovering well, I'm just in a bit of pain from it all yet.  On percocet right now, so that's good.  We watched Firefly in full again.  I love that show.  "How's it sit? Pretty cunning, don't you think?"  Has to be one of the best quotes ever, and I'm just rememberin' Jayne fondly.  He is the hero of Canton, after all.  I keep getting that song stuck in my brainpan.

Anyway.  I graduated!  I'm college edumacated!  Hoping to find a job near Lawrence, Kansas, put us near a friend anyway.  The ultimate would be living near Marquette, MI again!  As soon as I'm recuperated enough, I'll start looking for a job.

If sleep is for the weak . . . then I'm the wimpiest there is.

Yessir.  That's my tattoo.
Wednesday, March 1, 2006
-----

So my family hasn't seen my tattoo yet.  I was hoping to display it when I went down for my grandma's birthday...but that isn't gonna happen.  So I'll let them see it there.  That beauty is on the back of my neck and it's about that big too.  Ain't it pretty?

So.  March 6th, I have my first surgery.  They go in through the back, put in screws and rods, graft some bone over it.  I'm in the hospital for a few days after that.  Then, March 20th, I go back in.  They go in from the front (my god ow) and take out the disc and replace it with bone.  So.  I'll have in total about four incisions.  Two for bone taking from the hip.   One in back, one in front.  I'm not thrilled, well I am that it will be over, but I'm scared.  I hope I get flowers in my hospital room.

Hospital is Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN.

The funniest thing about all of this is that the cause was a birth defect.  It's something I've had all my life that's just slowly degraded a disc until it bulged and tore.  The bone that connects the pelvis to the spine on the left side is a lot larger than it is on the right side. It's made my spine twist and given me arthritic changes.  Funny how something you can't see and have never known about your whole life can cause you so much pain.  Funny to have scoliosis and not know about it for twenty nine years.

Anyway...  My computer is dying.  Slowly. It's by some small miracle it started this last time.  That being said I'm not going to shut it off, I'm going to let it sit there on until my new Dell comes.  I'm excited about that.  Flat-panel monitor.  CD-RW!  Huge amounts of ram.  A ginormous hard drive.  Some good out of all the bad.

Wish me luck people.

Being Nervous
Wednesday, February 22, 2006
-----

Your Soul Number is THREE.

You are a romantic and an optimist at heart, with a great appreciation for life and all of its pleasures and beauty. Your gifts are imagination, inspiration, the ability to dream and to create. Your natural generosity, big-heartedness, and good humor wins you many friends. You have an inner joy and buoyancy which enables you to encourage and bring hope to others. However, some consider you unrealistic and naive, for you are drawn to the bright side of life and avoid the dark or difficult aspects of people and situations as much as possible. You do seem to attract more than your share of the good things in life. Comfort and ease come naturally to you. You are a very social creature and you especially enjoy being with creative, playful, spontaneous people. Theatre, dance, music, and other expressive arts have a strong appeal for you. Your weaknesses may include laziness, lack of discipline, and impracticality.

We'll start out with that fantastic astrology m'thinger. Because it seems accurate, right down to my laziness, lack of discipline, and impracticality. My faults. Yay.

achillesSo I can't for the life of me remember where I found this quiz, but this is the result I got. Nifty, no? And I like Achilles. Troy as a whole was...'meh' as it made Orlando Bloom into a weakybabyarcher again. Woo. Even though. . .Legolas kicked an abundant amount of ass.

I am having a discogram tomorrow. I guess it will pinpoint just what is being taken out and how many vertibre are being fused. It is a bit of a daunting thought. I'm a little nervous. I'll be under IV sedation so. I am kind of shaky about it. Anyhow I should be okay. Even if it says it's painful. ~whine~ I hate needles. This won't be fun. I just want all the surgery and stuff to be over with! OVER WITH. Ugh. And my little outburst is over. Anyway.

Having fun RPin'. The room that Manda directed me to is awesome (Marvel Cinescape on IMC). It's a little discouraging how tough they can be on people, hearing lots of negatives and such. I'm there for one reason mainly, to play with one person. We play well together, I just hope I don't hog too much. I play in Twilight Cities too. It's fun. I adore WoD.

Woot. I caught the end of X2 on FX today. Wolverine crying = sad. And so I didn't really watch it. I have it on DVD, so if I wanted to watch it, well I would. I fixed my glasses today. Prescription is a little off from my contacts but my allergies were buggin' my eyes so contacts were a no-go. My eyes just hurt a little now. At least I'm not blind.

And.  I need to update more.  I think I'll try to do this more often.

Well, class. That's all for my post today. I hope you enjoyed this informative update.
Heh.

These Turkey Farms Have GOT To Go! Hey Hey!  Ho Ho!
Wednesday, October 19, 2005
-----

Imagine this. You're having a nice dinner with friends from work at a nice restaurant. You drive back to work and you get out, still laughing from conversations had, only to be bowled over by the worst smell imaginable. Not like "ew dead road kill" stink. It's like "ew dead road kill" stink mixed with "ew rotted milk" stink mixed with "ew mounds and mounds of excrement" stink. The -worst- smell I've ever smelled. You know what it was? Turkey farms outside of the town. They're horrible. I wish they would go away!

Anyway, I got friends now! Danielle, Lisa, and Heather. We're awesome. Constantly laughing. Yay us!

Hey now, you're a rock star.  I linked my brush sources and all.  Yay me.  It's blinkin' hot in here right now, but that's cool.  Cat's in the window.  I love days off.  Not much else to say here.  Kinda had a blah blah day, just waiting for Jason to get home.

I found brushes for Photo Shop and now I'm all playing.  It's what I put most of my web page together with.  Nifty, no?  Anyway.  Been a while.  I'm now working at Wal-Mart, it's a brand no store, it doesn't open until the 26th of this month, so we're in set up.  It's kind of fun.  Hopefully I'll get to be a customer service person and not just a cashier.  I'm actually training people rather than being trained.  It's quite cool.  I remember EVERYTHING on how to do it, returns and all.  Wicked.

Anyway, I hope everyone likes this new layout, it took some work, but it's highly cool, all done with Adobe Photoshop and it's lovely brushes.  Wee!  And yes, that's me on the upper left.  Woot!

Busy days suck
Monday, August 15, 2005
-----

At least at the Courtesy Desk they do. Two registers, a phone, and people. When you're waiting on one register, the people at the other register get cranky. "I'm sorry, but they were here first." And they get pissed. Like they'd like it if I did that to them, what they want me to do to the others. Geeze, no pleasing some people.
So, I was looking for Gary Oldman pictures for a friend of mine to use as an evil character from one of my character's pasts when I came upon an odd site. Not odd as in weird but odd as in random, and I got sucked in to this bloggy type of site reading random thoughts of a person on how they didn't like the last Nirvana song they heard and telling Christian Slater how proud of them they are. As if he'll ever read it. Anyway, I clicked on through to another site where this guy says he published something for the New York press that offended people (THE 52 FUNNIEST THINGS ABOUT THE UPCOMING DEATH OF THE POPE By Matt Taibbi) and he basically lost his job over it. I read it. None of them were funny, lame at best...stupid thoroughly...offensive, highly. I would have been offended, you know, if I gave a flying crap about Catholic politics and all, but hey, I'm Lutheran.. Anyway. I'm wondering. If the New York Press was so pressed about it, why is it STILL UP? And that was random.

School starts in one week from today. I paid my tuition and got my books already. My backpack is even packed. Oye. The kitty picture today symbolizes how I feel. I am tired. And I'm goin' to bed.

Obi-Wan!
Monday, July 25, 2005
-----

After a lovely yet terribly BUSY day at work, I sit and relax.  I saw Fantastic Four twice now and it was excellent, got to go to the Mall of America.  I got my Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works, and found out that I'm allergic to scallops.  Yay Me.

Not much to say, classes start August 22nd.  I'm looking forward to that.  And yes, I like Obi-Wan Kenobi, he's a hero, my hero.  Yay.  Spoke to mom on the phone tonight, going to see them the end of August.  Hopefully we can do all the Wisconsin Dells stuff, it sounds like fun.  Maybe even take in a movie.  The Island, with Ewan...er..I mean Starring Ewan McGregor and some other...people (Yes, I realize Scarlet Johansen is important to some..but it's EWAN man.)

I have the next two days off due to my scheduler's blunder.  I asked for August 26-30 off, she gave me July 26-30 off.  Ugh.  I got some shifts from other people, so it's no big deal..but c'mon!  Does 8 look a lot like 7?  Oye.

I guess I don't like to update, eh?
Saturday, July 2, 2005
-----

So, by now, you get that the little icons I'm putting up, this update features my cat Storm, go along with my mood or maybe the feature part of my post.  Either way, Storm is cute.  He likes it when you whistle to him, he gets all cuddly and cute and purrs.  It's quite adorable.

Yes, I saw Star Wars again, it was when we were in Michigan with Josh, and yes it was just as good, but I didn't shed any tears that time.  We're going to see a movie today!  Yay!  Mr. and Mrs. Smith.  It looks funny and action packed, which is how I like my movies mostly.

I work on the fourth but it's okay since I'll be off before fireworks, I only work until nine so that's a bonus.  The job's going okay.  It's a job, no big woop.

Day off!  Woo!

Sunday, June 5, 2005
-----

You may wonder why exactly I have a picture of the handsome Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) up as my choice today, well, I'm going to see Star Wars Episode 3:  Revenge of the Sith again today.  Yes.  Again.  I absolutely loved it, it was way better than the other two, and it made me bawl my eyes out.  Definitely worth a second showing.  Definitely.  Though now that I think about it I should have a picture of the young Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) up instead.  I favor him, he's the good guy.  Heh.

Anyway, I know my schedule again for next week and it wasn't even Saturday when it came out!  Wow!  It was like Thursday, anyway, I got the days off I needed for Alyssa's graduation, so that's good.

Not much else, have fun, and May the Force be with you.

So, having a schedule is nice

Friday, May 27, 2005
-----

Yes, when you work, often it is nice if you know your schedule ahead of time.  This concept, you'd think, is common knowledge for people.  Apparently not according to the person that comes up with the schedule.  I'll know if I work Monday, on Saturday, if I'm lucky.  That is a major if.  Last week I didn't know that I worked on Sunday until Saturday.  That is pathetic.  Annoying, anyway.

Awesome news.  I'm getting a new video card for my computer in hopes that a starting problem will go away if I do.  My computer, the silly thing it is, has to warm up before it'll start up.  In other awesome news, I got a bike today.  No, not like a Harley, but a 15 speed bike.  It's awesome!  Yell at me later, but I will not wear a helmet.

That's all for now.  I have to go to bed early tonight, I work at 8 am tomorrow.  Yuck.

Okay, two updates, one night!  A two-for-one dealio!

I called in and got my schedule.  I have TUESDAY off!  The significance of this is I will be able to go with Jason to see Star Wars Episode III:  Revenge of the Sith.  Yay me!  And wow, a schedule on Friday.  Fainting ensues!

spank An update, for you!

Wednesday, May 25, 2005

Well, Econo Foods is as dull as I thought it would be, but that's alright. I gotta leave for work in about an hour and a half. Thrilling. I actually prefer closing. No one is in after 11pm and I can just think up things to do.

Not much else to say. Jason is working all five days at Somerset next year, so yay! We're getting bikes, and I can't wait for that.

Anyway, Jason will be home soon. Gotta go!

A treat for the eyes and the ears
Saturday, May 14, 2005
-----

So this will be me embarking on a new journal.  How delightful, no?  Maybe this time I'll remember to do it, hum?  Maybe mom can keep track of me better this way.  Heh.

Anyway, end of the semester and I couldn't be more relieved.  I'm not sure about what I got in all of my classes but I do know the grades I got in the two least important classes to my degree.  Why we have to take them is beyond me, but in Principles of Macroeconomics I got a C+ (Booo), and in Financial Accounting I got a B-.  As far as the rest of them go?  I think I did well, but I won't know until I get my grades.

What I do know is I'll be going back next fall, and as well as a Computer Information Systems Programmer/Analyst Degree, I'll get my Java certification too!  I hope that ensures I'll get a Java Programming job, which is what I truly want.

We were supposed to have Shannon and Joel over tonight to help them out with a presentation for their new job, the details are sketchy for me, but I feel horrible, must have been new meds (I do have 11 prescriptions, don't ask) or something I ate.  Either way, I just wasn't up to it.  I hope I feel better tomorrow, going to Eau Claire, celebrating the end of the semester and my getting a job.  Sure it's Econo Foods, but at least it's something that isn't fast food for the summer.

Not much else to say, hope people enjoy the new layout!
